With Advanced RSN Technology
At LotusMCO, we believe in the limitless potential of the human mind and body. Through harnessing cutting-edge technology potential is unlocked through the optimization of the Resting State Network (RSN), enhancing mental resilience, acuity, and overall well-being for individuals worldwide.
Our Story
Born from a passion for innovation and compassion for human health, LotusMCO was established to bridge the gap between advanced neuroscience and everyday wellness. The journey began with Michael Hickey, a visionary in medical technology, whose career was marked by groundbreaking achievements in the field of neurofeedback and brain health.
In 1979, Michael co-founded Biox Technology, alongside Scott Wilber and Bill Moe, pioneering the development of the first widely used pulse oximeter. This venture, funded by Enervest, laid the foundation for Hickey's future endeavors, showcasing his commitment to revolutionizing healthcare through technology.
A decade later, in 1989, Michael Hickey, David Joffe, and Carla Hickey founded Lexicor Medical Technology in Boulder, Colorado. Lexicor emerged as a leader in EEG biofeedback, transforming the landscape of neurofeedback and neurotherapy. Under Hickey's leadership, the company introduced innovative applications for EEG devices, integrating them into psychology and behavioral therapy fields, thus expanding their impact beyond traditional neurological examinations.
The early 1990s marked a significant milestone when Hickey collaborated with Robert W. Thatcher, who worked at the National Institutes of Health to incorporate a normative reference database into Lexicor's QEEG assessment software. This advancement enabled clinicians to assess patients' brains with unprecedented accuracy during neurofeedback sessions.
In 1994, Lexicor began selling these University of Maryland norms, marking a pivotal moment in EEG biofeedback history. By 1998, the introduction of "Z Score Neurofeedback" further solidified Lexicor's position as a pioneer, offering real-time comparisons to age-matched reference populations, enhancing the specificity and effectiveness of neurofeedback protocols.
As the new millennium approached, Lexicor launched DataLex, the first internet application of an EEG analysis service, providing baseline measurements for mental disease diagnosis and neurotherapy. Michael Hickey's tenure as CEO culminated in 2006 when he transitioned to Chairman of the Board, leaving a legacy of innovation and excellence.
In 2015, the Wellness App IP emerged in Boulder, Colorado, embodying the culmination of years of research and development. This organization, operating within the Health Services sector, integrated the breakthroughs from Biox and Lexicor into the LotusMCO headset and tuning program network.
Today, under Michael Hickey's visionary leadership, LotusMCO continues to push the boundaries of brain health.
"Our relentless pursuit of excellence has driven us to develop the LotusMCO System, a revolutionary tool that measures and enhances the RSN—key to unlocking mental and physical resilience."
This patented Micro-Coherence Oximetry (MCO) system empowers individuals to achieve optimal brain vitality, transforming the way we understand and enhance cognitive wellness.
"As her best friend and loving husband, I am honored to share the legacy of my beloved wife, Carla Hickey, whose belief in the profound impact of self-regulation on the quality of life has been the driving force behind her work since 1990. She was an inspiration in the fields of neurofeedback, neurotherapy, and brain health. Her neurotherapy clinic, Neuropath, in Boulder, has served as a cornerstone for our community, offering Q-EEG certification programs for 20 years. Her unwavering dedication to empowering others through knowledge and healing continues to inspire us all." Michael Hickey, CEO and Founder
